LBH Historic Walking Tours

WHO: Long Beach Heritage
WHAT: Docents Needed for Long Beach Walking Tours
COST: Free

DO YOU LOVE LONG BEACH AS MUCH AS WE DO?

Volunteer Opportunities

"If only the walls could talk". How often have we heard this expression and true it would be if only we knew how to observe and listen. Our historic Long Beach buildings need a voice to help others hear what they have to say. You could be that voice. Long Beach Heritage will be offering three Walking Tours of the Historic Downtown, the Art Deco Architecture and the East Village. These tours will be on scheduled dates. We are looking for docents to conduct and assist with these tours. If you are interested in learning more about Long Beach, then you are the one we are looking for. You will receive excellent training from Long Beach's finest heritage and historical experts.

IMPORTANT: LBH BEMBRIDGE HOUSE NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

Our historic Bembridge House is a busy place. Visitors regularly come through to see the house, groups of school children are brought for a tour and an introduction to the concept of historic preservation, community groups and private parties hold meetings or social events in the charming setting. Last month a young couple was thrilled to hold their wedding in our Peppertree Court. Some events, such as this one, bring us much-needed income, as the expense of maintaining the house is a continual burden.

While all this activity represents great progress for us and for the improvement of the condition of the house since we became its stewards, we do not have enough people to help with all that’s going on. We are hoping to find more volunteers for our team. You don’t have to commit to a particular schedule or number of hours, and you don’t have to have experience.

Opportunities include

♦ giving tours of the house.

♦ assisting at parties or other events.

♦ working with the gardening team.

♦ helping with planning and organization.

Bembridge House is a lively, informal place, staffed by friendly volunteers who enjoy their activities and who appreciate one another’s company. We think that’s another reason for you to consider joining us.
